Thomas A. Fiorentino-Strawn | Environmental Specialist
Thomas has joined the Hazardous Materials Group (HMG) as an Environmental Specialist working out of Chaska, Minnesota. He has over two years of experience in the environmental consulting industry, working with hazardous materials storage and transport, laboratory compliance, and environmental health communications. Thomas went to Saint John’s University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies with a minor in Economics.
Paul Flanagan | Environmental Specialist
Paul has joined the Hazardous Materials Group (HMG) as an Environmental Specialist working out of corporate headquarters in Chaska, Minnesota. He is new to the environmental consulting industry, as he is a recent graduate of Saint John’s University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He will supervise asbestos abatement projects, provide abatement monitoring, conduct asbestos and hazardous material building surveys, and carry out short‐term radon sampling.
Lori has joined the Strategic Energy Group (SEG) as a Project Manager working out of Sarasota, Florida. She has over nine years of consulting experience in the environmental industry and two years of experience conducting Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae energy assessments. Lori went to the University of South Florida and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.
Adam is a Project Manager for the Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) Group. He has more than 18 years of experience in the petroleum, land surveying, utility, and real estate industries, including petroleum bulk storage compliance; petroleum spill delineation/remediation; residential/commercial as-built and asbestos survey work; Phase I, II, III investigations; and commercial spill prevention, control, and countermeasure (SPCC) plans. The properties he has evaluated include military, industrial, office, retail, and multifamily residential projects. Adam is based out of Kerhonkson, New York, servicing New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
Damian is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, with over 15 years of experience in the global real estate and financial services industries. His experience in the USA includes property condition assessment for loan and equity purposes on a range of commercial real estate assets. Originally from the UK, he has managed property acquisition, development, asset portfolios, and capital refurbishment programs on large multifamily assets. Damian was appointed to the technical team of a major financial institution in 2007. For five years, he advised the bank’s Mortgage Executive Committee on all aspects of due diligence, construction, and environmental and asset valuation risk, thus helping to shape their multibillion-pound lending portfolio during a period of unprecedented challenges. Damian was active as a professional and technical leader, designing and personally delivering training to over four hundred professionally qualified colleagues nationwide. He was also a central technical resource, providing advice to an extensive network of senior bank underwriters and independent surveying contractors.
Andrew has joined the Capital Markets Group (CMG) as a dual scope Project Manager working out of Atlanta, Georgia. He has over 28 years of experience in the due diligence industry, including conducting Phase I ESAs, Phase II ESAs, Property Condition Assessments (PCAs), LUST investigations, UST closures, LUST remediation, aquifer testing, geophysical investigations, and other types of investigations in over 20 states. He also has several years’ experience as an USEPA Contractor assisting with emergency spill containment and assessment at oil spill and hazardous waste sites. He has detailed knowledge of the risks associated with hazardous and regulated materials storage, use generation and disposal, above-ground storage tanks (ASTs), underground storage tanks (USTs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and mold and radon, and he has extensive experience collecting and analyzing data for each of these risks. His PCA background includes assessing site improvements, building structures, roofs, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for evidence of deferred maintenance or problematic materials. Andrew graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in Geology.
Rich is a Regional Client Manager out of Jacksonville/St. Augustine, Florida. He has over 23 years of experience in the due diligence, environmental, and engineering industries. As a Regional Client Manager, Rich is responsible for managing due diligence investigations for property acquisition and financing, including environmental site assessments (ESAs), property condition reports, subsurface site investigations, site characterizations, remediation, and other due diligence-related activities. This includes providing expert-level managerial, technical, and operational project coordination and managing client relations in the development and implementation of Nova services. He works directly with clients to delineate appropriate scopes, objectives, budgets, and priorities that meet their project needs. Rich has a Bachelor of Science in Geology and Hydrology and is a licensed PG and LSRP.
Kathleen is starting her career with us after graduating from the University of Kansas, where she received a degree in Civil Engineering with an environmental focus. She is new to the field of environmental consulting and is excited to learn. She has joined Nova as an Associate Project Manager and will be based in Los Angeles, California.
Keith is a Property Condition Assessment Project Manager from Collingswood, New Jersey. He is both a registered Architect and a licensed Professional Engineer. He attended Pennsylvania State University where he received a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering. Keith has five years of experience in the property assessment industry, having completed numerous PCAs and equity reports for a wide range of property types, including high rise office, multifamily residential, assisted living, educational, religious, retail, industrial, and storage. Keith also has over 35 years of engineering, architectural design, and construction administration experience. He has design experience with nearly every aspect of building and site design concerning many types of projects. He has particular expertise in multifamily housing, HVAC systems, and historic preservation.
Michael is a Property Condition Assessment Project Manager and licensed Builder with over 35 years in the construction field. Michael is certified in mold remediation, lead paint removal, applied structural drying, water damage restoration, and roofing inspection appraisal. He has conducted Physical Needs Assessments per Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac protocols, as well as Property Condition Assessments to ASTM and custom protocols. Michael has conducted over one thousand commercial property surveys to different scopes for clients including large shopping centers, hotels, religious institutions, educational facilities, multifamily residential properties, and healthcare, manufacturing, and warehousing facilities.
Michael is a Property Condition Assessment Project Manager out of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He has four years of experience in the property condition assessment industry, having completed over 50 PCAs of various types, including hospitality, multifamily, assisted living and skilled nursing, retail, industrial, self-storage, and recreational occupancies. Michael also has over 27 years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry, conducting site assessments to identify and remedy hazards in order to reduce loss potential. He also mentored more than 40 employees, providing one-on-one training in field observations and report preparation. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he earned a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
Trent is a Property Condition Assessment Project Manager out of Salt Lake City, Utah. He has over two years of experience in the property condition assessment industry with projects ranging from large industrial complexes and multifamily properties to hospitality, assisted living, senior living, and self-storage properties. Trent has been a licensed General Contractor in the state of Utah for more than 10 years and has more than 20 years’ experience in the building construction industry. Trent attended Utah Valley University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and an Associate of Science in Building Construction.
Lauren Mazzacca has joined the Environmental Assessment and Remediation (EAR) Group as a Project Manager. Lauren has over eight years of consulting experience in the Northeast for a wide range of clients, including government agencies, banks, agency lenders, law firms, and property owners. She has managed, conducted, or reviewed Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments for commercial, residential, institutional, and industrial properties. Lauren will be conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments for Nova. Her office is in Hawthorne, New Jersey.
