Environmental Specialist

An Environmental Specialist performs a variety of project specific on-site inspections including, but not limited to:
  • Asbestos Building Surveys
  • Radon Assessments
  • Comprehensive Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) assessments and investigations
  • Asbestos, mold, lead, mercury abatement project monitoring and air sampling
  • Supervise contractor on site to ensure contract specifications and department of health regulations are followed
  • Provide in-house analytical services/microscopy, sampling, and observation
  • Analyze data and recommend course of action or management plan
  • Interpret or work from drawings, specifications, diagrams and schematics
  • Document all work conducted and air samples taken and maintain a direct line of contact with client/owner, and project manager


  • College degree in a science-based field
  • HAZWOPER, AHERA training a plus
  • Work experience in the fields of safety, industrial hygiene, hazardous materials control or other construction trades a plus
  • 1-3 years of environmental consulting experience preferred (ESA/PCA experience a plus)
  • • This position requires successful completion of 40 hours of OSHA health and safety training for working with potentially contaminated materials (provided, as needed), annual 8-hour refresher courses, and annual medical monitoring.
  • Acquire and maintain Asbestos Analyst Registry (AAR) Certification
  • Strong technical writing skills

  • Ability to work independently and interact effectively with supervisors and clients
  • The ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel are also required. Applicant must be willing to travel up to 50%-75% of the time (local and nationwide), with the ability to travel on short notice (1 week or less), and occasionally work nights and weekends
  • Valid/current state driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Drivers Record
  • Physical Demands: Ability to physically navigate site properties in various weather conditions; ability to climb a ladder to gain roof access; must be able to lift 25 lbs.
